The leveler didn't mention anything about fixing clipped signals like Izotope RX or other suites, so that level was just compressed distorted. If that clip is buried you've lost your marker and you've also included a distorted signal into your audio. ![]() Myself and many people will intentionally clip the mic to mark spots in time for edits as it's easy to find in most editing software just by looking at the waveform. On top of that, you said it was a chapter marker. (Sometimes making a clip distort like it's a 2012 xbox mic adds to comedy, but that's unrelated.) I would never include a distorted signal unintentionally.
